Ford Freestar Repair Question :: 2005 Ford Freestar

Computer problem

2005 Ford Freestar  6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 63000 miles

My van has had problems starting and  cuts off during periods when it has rained. The check engine light comes on etc. Within hours of the problem, it usually subsides and the car runs okay.  I have been told that it may be that the PCM has gotten wet.  I understand this problem  is not uncommon.  Do I need a new PCM. I have been told that PCMs are rather robust.  Would letting the moisture clear and sealing the area be adequate?
