Engine Cooling problem

1988 Ford Aerostar  6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170000 miles



Heloo, just yesterday my car cut off and ran hot. i think that it is because, i missed getting the regular oil change but, i dont know what to do. my brother said that if it gets hot turn on the heater to high and it will keep it from cutting off. what am i to do..
