Chevy Express Repair Question :: 2005 Chevy Express  Steering Gear Box

Steering problem

2005 Chevy Express  V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 40000 miles

There is no steering problem with my 1-ton Chevy Express 3500. However when I took it in for an oil change I was told the Steering Gear Box was leaking. The leaked oil has a light feel. If I wipe it off clean, how long before I notice the oil again? I'm not too knowledgeable with repairs any more, but could this a dangerous problem?

I'm a little suspicious of the shop and want to somehow verify there is a problem.

Thanks, Al
